Filmmakers & Movie Nerdsโ
Filmmaking Community
Filmmaking is collaborative. A good way to get help is starting by offering your own.
At our core, we are united by a love for movies and a drive to learn by doing.
We create all kinds of short films without limits on genre, style, or story. Ideas are born together, but anyone can pitch their own. Once we choose a project, we assign roles, shoot, and edit as a team.
We keep things simple, start creating quickly, focus on solutions, and treat each other with respect. Our shared mindset is clear we want to grow our skills while making films together. We work as equals, stay committed, and push forward when itโs time to focus.
Healthy debates happen, but respect always comes first. We value open communication, transparency, and reliability. Mostly we choose speed over perfection, but we are on the verge of creating feature movies. Itโs just a matter of time!
We make movies, learn, create and grow together. It is important to understand that here we help each other with projects. When youโre new, the best way to start is offering your help and join a project. Helpfulness and openness go a long way.
Our Filmmaking Community
The Filmmakers & Movie Nerds are officially an NGO and we have organically grown this Filmmaking Community. It is diverse group of film lovers and makers from around the world, united by a shared passion for visual storytelling. Some of us work in the film industry, others are just starting out but what matters most is the desire to create together and help each other.
Whether you can act, write scripts, record sound, edit, color grade, produce, organize, scout locations, or simply bring great energy to the set thereโs a place for you here.
Our projects are always collaborative, and roles shift from film to film. We strongly believe that making movies is a team effort, built on trust, shared values, and mutual support.
Thatโs why weโre not just creating short films! Weโve been building a Filmmaking Community where members know & trust each other, grow together, and turn ideas into something unforgettable.
With so many people working together, we realized it is very important to follow a strong Code of Conduct and Community Guidelines.
Focus Groups
Focus Groups are member-led initiatives that dive deep into one aspect of the filmmaking process -- writing, acting, camera, editing, producing, and more. They run independently, driven by members who want to go further in their craft together.
At the moment we have two active writing groups:
Writers Focus
Henri's biweekly writing group before the official Meetup on Sunday, 15:00 - 17:00
Screenwritings on the Wall
Andrew's weekly session, every Tuesday at MotelOne, Alexanderplatz, Brunnenstraรe 17:00 - 19:00
If you have expertise in a specific area of filmmaking, or simply want to go deeper with fellow members -- reach out. We'll help you make the next Focus Group happen.
1 Goal, 2 Approaches
-
Momentum over Perfection
Our short cycle projects are designed for fast learning and collaboration. Now on a three-month cycle, they involve small casts, easy locations, 1โ2 shooting days, quick edits, and rotating roles. Perfect for meeting the group and gaining hands-on experience.
-
Focus on Higher Quality
We also create longer projects when the story calls for it. While speed is our default, we give more time to ideas that need deeper storytelling and higher production quality. It depends what you want to tell . Some of us are working on features.
