Code of Conduct &
Community Guidelines

Code of Conduct

We are anchored in values of respect, support, and a collective enthusiasm for filmmaking. We believe in the transformative power of collaboration, the free exchange of knowledge, and the importance of open communication. Our community is a haven for creativity, where every member is encouraged to share their voice and vision.

To make participation in our community a safe and welcoming experience for everyone, we have created a code of conduct that outlines our expectations for anyone who wants to be part of our community and projects

We consider the following behavior unacceptable:

Harassment or abusive, discriminatory, derogatory, demeaning, intimidating, threatening, or otherwise hurtful language based on age, body size, caste, disability (visible or invisible), education, ethnicity, gender expression, gender identity, level of experience, nationality, personal appearance, race, religion, religious or spiritual beliefs, sex characteristics, sexual identity, sexual orientation, skin color, or socio-economic status.

Sexism, racism, colourism, homophobia, biphobia, interphobia, transphobia, antisemitism, Islamophobia, fascism, age discrimination (ageism), or ableism.

Acts of violence, inappropriate physical contact, unwelcome attention (sexual or otherwise), stalking, or following.

Inappropriate use of nudity and/or sexual images, or inappropriate depictions of violence.

Scope

This code of conduct applies within all Filmmakers & Movie Nerds community spaces, online or in person, as well as in all one-on-one communications pertaining to community business. It applies to anyone participating in the community, including guests and leaders. It also applies when an individual is officially representing the community in public spaces.

Cases of violation

We want to make sure that all members feel secure and supported. In case of unacceptable behavior, please report it to the Filmmakers & Movie Nerd team on Discord or via Email. All community leadership commits to respect the privacy and security of the reporter of any incident. Any breach of this Code of Conduct is taken seriously and will be addressed promptly. We reserve the right to eliminate any content that does not align with our community standards.

The Filmmakers & Movie Nerds leadership team reserves the right to revoke access, without notice or refund, to online and in-person spaces.

Community Guidelines

Welcome to Filmmakers & Movie Nerds, an international community of creatives united by a passion for cinema and a commitment to learning the craft of filmmaking through practical experience. Our strength lies in the diversity of our members and their unique cultural and ideological backgrounds. To ensure a respectful, supportive, and collaborative environment, we uphold the following Community Guidelines.

Use your actual name

We use Discord as our main tool for communication. To cultivate a community of trust and professional integrity, we ask all members to engage with one another using their real first name. This practice promotes accountability and helps build a network of professionals who respect each other as both filmmakers and individuals. We don’t accept made up usernames because we want to get to know each other and simplify communication. You can change your username for this server only, so there is basically no excuse.

Profile picture

We wish that people can recognize each other on Discord and on the meetups, so we are strongly recommending to also use a photo that clearly shows your beautiful face. Since you may be on other servers where you don’t feel safe to show your face this may be an exception. If you use Nitro, you can also have an individual photo for this server.
