🏆 CURRENT CHALLENGE 🎬 🥗 SPRING 🤹‍♀️

Prompt: Are you okay?
Time Frame: March – May
Due Date: 30.05.2025
Screening: 01.06.2024

The idea of the Seasonal Challenge

We started creating challenges to keep constantly creating and push ourselves. It’s that creative crunch that some of us need that only comes around when you have a dead line. We began with a monthly challenge and then realised that this is just a bit too short. Then we decided for some more time and to expand the challenge to three months, roughly dedicating one month for each part of the production. Writing, pre-production & shooting, editing.

You have 3 months to create a movie; from scratch. The script can already exist, but you have to shoot in the duration of the challenge. These are the Challenge Months:

🚨 CURRENT CHALLENGE Spring: March, April, May | “Are you okay” 👀

Summer Challenge: June, July, August | “What a coincidence” ✅

Autumn Challenge: September, Oktober, November | “Perspectives” ✅

Winter Challenge: December, January, February | “Lost”

The Rules of the Seasonal Challenge

Filming has to take place in the 3 months of the challenge

Scripts can already exist before

Movies have to be connected to the prompt

Prompts are decided by the community

The duration of the movie should be between 2 to 12 minutes

Movies have to be submitted – latest – one day before the screening

The “most popular movie” is voted by the audience at the screening

The movie with the most votes wins the challenge

FAQs

  • To take part, you simply have to follow the rules and hand in your prompt-compliant movie before the day of the screening. If you are looking for a crew or team, it could be a good idea to come to one of our Meetups on Sunday. Present your idea and convince people to join you.

  • The challenge is completely free. You simply have to create movie in the time frame and submit it.

  • If your movie happens to be created in the "official time frame" and is somehow connected to the prompt, then yes. We prefer if you create the movie for the challenge, but if destiny is in your favor here, how could we deny your entry?

  • The challenge aims towards a creative push, so you win that you actually start and finish the movie. However, of course, you get an official certificate and we started convincing some companies to give us a prize for the winner of the challenge. This varies for every challenge. It could be a piece of filmmaking gear or a free membership for a software service.

  • The prompts are suggested and voted for by the community. They could give a theme to the movies or just a small part of it. They should not constrain the creation too much. It serves more like an inspiration and common denominator than a restriction.

The vote for the prompt of the coming up challenge takes place at the day of the screening of the current challenge. For example we vote for the autumn challenge at the screening of the summer challenge.

Join the challenge!

Great. You read all this and are interested. Now it’s time to commit to the challenge. The commitment is just with you and your team, of course. No pressure from our side. However, don’t overthink it. Get out there, write a script, pitch your idea and find a crew at our meetup.

And remember: “Done is better than perfect"!

  • With every film that I am doing, I am learning new things either about myself, or about filmmaking.
